Description: Upland Road House #02 is situated at the base of the Waitakere Ranges, overlooking Huia Bay and Manukau Harbour. Designed for Northern aspect optimising sunlight and Southern aspect maximising views. The design follows and bends with natural topography, stretching East to West for sunlight and passive solar gain. Clad in corten steel, and lite grey standing seem metal cladding designed to merge with landscape. Insulated, exposed concrete slabs will capture and store sunlight for natural warmth. Main thermal envelope will be structurally insulated panels. 30,000L of rainwater storage capacity for drinking, and a natural flow wormarator system will treat waste onsite.
