Description: Okaihau College Library gets a new lease of life. The early nineteenth century library building has been extensively modified and re-planned to bring it up to date. The renovation included extending the South side of the building for additional learning space, achieving a large open plan, multi-functional space with librarian reception at centre. A 20m long North facing clerestory was added to the Southern side capturing direct sunlight. Thermal mass walls collect and store radiant sunlight energy naturally heating the interior of the library.
